His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah states that over three decades, the Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area, BIMP-EAGA has made significant progress in accelerating trade, investment, and tourism in the sub region. As the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025 reaches its conclusion, it is crucial for BIMP-EAGA to re-evaluate their achievements to ensure a more progressive and prosperous subregion and that its efforts align with and complement the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
His Majesty made the titah while attending the 16th Brunei BIMP-EAGA Summit. It was held the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. His Majesty in the titah welcomed efforts to restructure, expand, and develop new Economic Corridors which will attract investment opportunities and stimulate growth. His Majesty also underscored the importance in ensuring all members are able to benefit equally from these opportunities and that no one is left behind.
His Majesty in the titah also emphasised that strengthening BIMP-EAGA's institutional mechanisms is crucial, which includes the establishment of a full-fledged secretariat to facilitate a more focused and coordinated cooperation.
